Some of the bungee rebounders I have tested have the worst stitching on them. Threads are running and start forming strings of threads everywhere
I only jump on Permatron mats. The cheap nylon mats or canvas if really cheap. The mats other than Permatron can rot and rip apart when people least expect it. I have never heard of a Permatron mat tearing in the years of rebounding. Also, Permatron doesn't get those fuzzies all over the mat. Most mats other than Permatron stretch out and rip because they have little tensile resistance.

Another reason the high end rebounders have a more springy feel at the bottom of the bounce is because Permatron does not stretch and doesn't through people off balance. The upward lift doesn't cave in as much as the stretchy material mats.

Also, if looking for a good mat, look for polyester stitching. Nylon stitched mats are good as long as you don't sweat on them or jump on the stitching. They will come apart easier though. Also, if people have dogs, they like to scratch on rebounders and can ruin the stitching, especially if its nylon stitched.

With stitching, even if its polyester stitched, make sure you know how many layers it is stitched. Some companies will say they have polyester stitching but only one single row. The most I have seen is 4 ply all around the mat.

So, Permatron is the most important thing to look for when comparing mats. Ask any trampoline manufacturer or professional trampolinist and they will tell you Permatron mats are the best. There are 2 types. The really porous type and the calendared (laminated) type. This type melts the Permatron fibers. This also blocks air so it has a much different feel. Ask about this too.

After the right mat is picked out, the next thing to look for is mat sizing. Most people want a bigger mat but don't realize based on any knee or foot inversion problem they would be better off with a smaller mat that doesn't cone in as much. A bigger sweet spot is only good if nothing concerns me that would tell me to recommend a smaller mat.

For help choosing just the right size mat or type of mat I can help you choose. Take my bungee rebounder quiz. It helps.

This is what a real Permatron mat should look like.

This is a 3 ply stitched mat. The really cheap mats that usually fall apart within a few months only have 1 stitching. There are many rebounders that have multi ply stitching but use really cheap stitching. There are 3 types of stitching I have tested. Nylon, polyester, and Teflon. Teflon is the most expensive of all.
