Latex bungees are the bungees cords for those that don't want off gassing but don't mind changing cords more often. (NOTE: There may be some companies that say their bungee cords are latex but if it doesn't have a ISO 9002 Certification then it is not 100% PURE LATEX RIBBONS IN THE BUNGEE CORD.

It really upsets me when companies I called said they use latex bungee cords on their rebounders when only 5% of the cord is latex. If you google OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, this is where the cords can get tested. They can test any yarn, any bed sheet, or any fabric to see if its legit.
Explanation. When people say they get sick breathing in off-gassing or any shedding of toxic yarns that braid the bungee, it's 99% of the time these synthetic bungees. Many companies can put illegal petrochemical yarns and rubbers in their bungee cords and they can get away with it as long as they don't claim it was tested by independent agencies. There are only 2 companies I have found that comply and have what I consider pure enough bungee cords to have in a room where someone has high chemical sensitivities. Bungee cords don't have to be certified since they are not intended to be touching the body like clothing. If you have ever bought really cheap sheets on the street like the ones I bought in new york. They were knock offs and felt like the real soft name brand version. I bought them. When I got home the smell was so bad I couldn't even use them. These probably would not comply with anything from OEKO-TEX®.

If off gassing is an issue, make sure the bungee has NATURAL latex rubber. These types of bungees might not last "as long" as the synthetic bungees but the tensile strength is much strong although they lose it faster. They are more stretchy and they don't stop short at the furthest extension like the synthetics.

Note: if getting the natural bungee cords, keep them far away from the sun. The positive thing about the latex type bungees is that they are almost 99.99% water proof. They don't lose their stretchiness when the are soaked.

If comparing two different companies that claim they use 100% latex in their cords, get a lab analysis and on the report it will tell you what percent impurities the lab tested it for. 100% pure means 100% polymerized isoprene. That is what latex is.
